What are the beaches like in the Florida Keys?

The Florida Keys is not known for its glamorous beaches. In fact, they are known for not having incredible beaches. There are not a lot of natural beaches that you’d find in other locations due to the reefs. The reefs block some of the surf that is needed to bring in a lot of sand. Some hotels will create beach areas, and you’ll find beachy areas in some situations, but this is not an oasis of miles and miles of sandy beaches as you might expect. Check the state parks for good beach areas, such as: Bahia Honda State Park or Long Key State Park.
